Frequently Asked Questions: How I work

1. Why choose me to code your projects

I have 5 years of experience in various fields of web development, and I've pretty much seen it all. I'm also fanatic of web usability and accessibility, so my interfaces are always polished for every single user to shine, which is always counts. My pages load quicker, my code looks simpler, and it's easier to change in the future.

2. What are my code practices

For backend server development I prefer PHP to all other languages. My PHP coding practices are: "write as simple as you can and do not repeat yourself" so any developer looking at my code would pick it up in a few moments later on. I like to come up with perfect solutions that would fit every single project, and solutions for each project that would be the most optimized.

For front-end I code in XHTML1.0, and I'm very proficient with CSS, with all it's glitches on any browsers. So your templates are future-proof, semantics perfect, viewable on the phones and listen able in screen readers. For Javascript and AJAX I prefer prototype.js, which is pretty much wide-spread standard. I also have a plenty of other libraries in my arsenal.

3. What do I charge

Surprisingly, It's not very expensive at all. My hourly rate is just $50 and usually I'm very fast. That's easy to explain keeping in mind that I don't like to do one project for months, and I like developing solutions that would make it as fast as possible, not loosing quality control from sight.

4. How do I work

Once you've decided to try me on one of your projects, I'm free to come up to the office and discuss all the details about it, until I have a clear idea, and we both have a pretty good understanding on what is going to happen.

The best way for me to find out about the projects is using wireframes. Paper sketches, technical assignments, Visio diagrams will do.

After I'm clear on the project's scope, I'll estimate it in hours, and I'm free to start. I usually demand some sort of advance payment, which would be at least 30%. I accept payments by cheque or preferably by wire-transfer.

I work in my home office and available all day long on MSN/ICQ/GTalk from 9 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon. I also have a Blackberry so I can instantly reply to your emails. I can directly work on your FTP so you see progress every day.
